Corporate Roller Coaster

Client: Phosphorus

Agency: Bluetext

Role: Video producer, writer, director

Year: 2021

Telling human-centric stories about tech that’s trying to remove humans from the process is tough. And what new technology isn’t boasting “simplicity” or “innovation”?

This client’s business is different, and we wanted to have as much fun with that difference as possible. They help enterprises find, understand and secure the thousands of IoT devices connecting with their network.

From a storytelling perspective, the narrative was only half-virtual: the technology was digital, but the devices were tangible.

The video needed to be a ride through a pseudo-digital world.

What could an enterprise look like if it were a 3D roller coaster?

Software Surrealism

My first true 3D video project!

Not only was it my first true “product” video, it was my first time working in 3D medium.

This really added a new dimension to my portfolio. And I could not be more proud, and all thanks to the incredible 3D superpowers of animator Dave Glanz.

I learned about the benefits of 3D motion graphics, falling for lighting, texture, camera work, and exploring the potential of an entirely new third dimension of storytelling.

I also learned the drawbacks of those same benefits: time for design, time for lighting, time for rendering. Thanks for riding the learning curve with me, Dave!
